Pipi naming pattern

Mike's Notes

It was helpful to talk through automation with Alex a few nights ago.

Automation needs to move hundreds of thousands of files to the new data centre.

Pipi naming pattern

By: Mike Peters
On a Sandy Beach: 07/04/2026

Mike invented and designed Pipi and founded Ajabbi.

This is the new naming pattern for every version, edition and account type of Pipi since 1997. These names are ASCII lowercase for compatibility with Windows, Linux, Solaris, macOS, etc. This is now named the Nestspace.

It is highly deterministic, enabling safe, reliable automation.

Assumptions

Pipi versions 1-5 had no editions or account types, so we will use these default names.

  • Edition = "f" (First)
  • Account Type = "g" (General)
Pipi versions 6-8 had no editions or account types, so we will use these default names.
  • Edition = "s" (Second)
  • Account Type = "b" (Base)

Archive

Move all existing files, including research materials, experiments, sample code, web crawls, and notes, to these locations. The archive format is a ZIP file with an appended date string. An example would be;

  • pipi_7sb_20201230.zip

Production

It is also the root deployment directory. An example would be;

  • pipi/9ae/
